Mrs Hova is PREGGOS

Last night saw the crowning of the best music videos in the music industry. But I'm not about to go on about the winners of the night (if that's what you're after, the list is on the bottom of the post). This post is centered around Beyonce's announcement of Lil Jigga's arrival. The Queen B announced the good news donning a stunning blood-red one-armed Lanvin dress. The time was 22:31 CAT and already the Twitter population was abuzz with speculation of where her "glow" could be coming from.
I want to look like B when I'm preggers!

The couple is rightfully ecstatic about the iminent arrival of the new member of this multi-millionare fam! Mom to be is apparantly going to be working right through her pregnancy, but what else did you expect from someone who sang "...smart enough to bear the children, then get back to b'niss"

Africa's greatest export

GOTCHA ☺ ☺ This has nothing to do with brent crude or gold but more to do with legs! Stretches and stretches and stretches of legs! Particularly those of Sudanese supermodel, Alek Wek. I have a weakness for anything this woman touches and I'm just one of those weirdos who think she's a beautiful lady. So, just for the hell of it and 'coz I can (nah, nah, nah nah nah) this post is an album of my favourite snapshots from this gem.

Cosmopolitan's new editor (True Love needs Jesus)

Yes, you will come across posts that actually make sense on this blog, they may be few and very far between, but they WILL make sense and they will (try) be constructive! Consider this the inaugural constructive post!

Sbu Mpungose (now ex-editor of TrueLove) has been appointed editor of South Africa’s biggest women’s glossy brand, Cosmopolitan. Mpungose will take over from Vanessa Raphaely, who will continue in her role as editorial director of Associated Magazines.

Love is ...

Yes, I ♥♥♥♥ SHOES ☺

Very few words properly capture the essence of love, for me that is. But I think I've found one word that does it all the justice it deserves: ♥ SHOES ♥.None of that giddy, trip over your heart nonsense people usually confuse it with. Just a really good pair of shoes.

Zoe Kravitz poses for RE:

So young missy here "hates being boxed as quirky"! Uhhhmmm, sweetheart, you're as bonkers as they make them is was my initial reaction! But then I read more of her interview in the Septmber issue of Elle SA and nana has a point, she shouldn't be referred to as quirky - she isn't quirky. She's outright weird. I personally wouldn't mind being the face of such a title. In this country you make do with whatever title you attached to, shut up and sit down!!

She was in the country recently shooting a campaign for the biggest chain store in the country (Woolies) and the whole shindig actually came out real nice. So buy the September issue of Elle.

Vivienne Westwood shoots in Kenya

What I consider to be one of the most creative fashion shoots in the history of fashion is brought to you by renowned designer and creative professional, Vivienne Westwood. There are tons of these pics, so you can have a look at the rest on The Fashion Notebook (they are spectacular). But what I'm more eager to see is how fashion publications interpret and showcase these art pieces. Watch how they take a good product and turn it into mulch!

Her creativity is uncontested! I ♥♥ this woman

Tara Reid's TACKY wedding ring

So crack-head thin Miss Tara Reid got engaged AND married...all over the course of one weekend! I knew this girl was crazy, but this just takes crazy to elevated levels even I fail to wrap my mind around. In the wee hours of the morning she showed off her new wedding ring. You already know from the title of this post that I don't think this is the prettiest ring under the sun, but this time I'm more interested in what YOU think! Is it as attrocious stylish instincts tell me it is?

I simply hate it (and this doesn't stem from the fact that I'm totally jealous!)

Janet Jackson heading down south

No, this post has nothing to do with sex but everything to do with Miss Jackson bringing her Up Close and Personal tour to South Africa in November. See dates and venues below.

It's good to be black

When I'm super-excited I palpitate! So I couldn't make this post last week, which is when I found this super-awesome site. I swear it's my new favourite hang-out spot. Fuck the club. Not much of the written word is featured on le coil though, instead, it's a gallery of beautiful people going about their business, proud of who they are and embracing their black-ness to its fullest potential. I've come to learn that there are some things whose beauty cannot be justified with the most semantically loaded words from the English language. I've also come to learn that we sometimes ruin the simple things in life by complicating them with idioms or similes or metaphors we don't even understand. But the lesson I'll practice now is that of silence when marvelling at Nature's simplicity. This is what you'll find on le coil

Common thread with these people? They're all black and beautiful but more importantly is they all sporting NATURAL hair dos! ♥♥♥. Check out the rest by following the link above. You'll want to snip off weave, I swear.

Wait...SHE'S THE MAN!

I've been pondering on whether or not I should do what everybody else is and make a women's day post. I had settled against it before I realised I'd be doing the strong, resilient, kind, stern, soft but loud women in my life a grave injustice. Sooooo....

To all of America's, Europe's and Africa's daughters, Happy Women's Day.

♥ YOOOOOWZA ♥

It's such a shame that to be deemed stylish in this country you have to have a throng of social mishaps that precede your glory! This is how I felt when I stumbled on blogger, Funeka Ngwevu's, Benneton entry portfolio. This girl's style is amaaaazing on so many levels. It's simply impeccable and I just had to feature her.

Fantasia Barrino preggerz

I hope Fantasia isn't pulling another Lauryn Hill on us coz my heart isn't strong enough to take it! The former American Idol winner announced the news herself during an appearance at a charity event over the weekend in Jacksonville, Florida.

MAXIM sails into SA this summer

The largest international men’s magazine in the world, MAXIM, is set to turn up the heat in South Africa this summer.

Preparing to arrive in momentous style with much more than just a print edition, MAXIM will be taking on South Africa with a whole new approach to men’s lifestyle publications. It's already published in more than 20 countries, distributed in over 50 territories and so it keeps growing...

Just when I was getting excited about getting my boyfriend's undivided attention I have to prepare to go to war with yet another glossy mag! Ja neh...this sucks major cajones!

Agyness Deyn/Mr Price ad

If you're one of those special people who appreciate understated simplicity, especially when it comes to clothing, then you couldn't have missed the Mr Price ad which is currently doing the rounds on our picture boxes. I ♥ ♥ this ad. I can't decide whether I like the ad because of the way the dresses were given life by Agyness or they're simply beautiful pieces. Come to think of it, it might well be both. This girl is an absolute cupcake!

Mr Price is obviously on a roll, if only they could beef up the quality while they're at it. That'd be REALLY nice.

A deflated end to Big Brother Amplified

I’m not a fan of television, not even “reality” television. I haven’t found a good enough reason to put my life on hold while I watch other people live theirs, it simply doesn’t make sense. I am therefore only posting the results of Big Brother Amplified because I know some of y’all are clandestine fans of the show.

June Ambrose for Mr.Price

So there I was minding my business (as per usual), I waltz into Mr. Price and *BAM* right there in front of my spectacled eyes was a floral jumpsuit designed by one of the WORLD’S most revered celebrity stylists, June Ambrose. I hate the jumpsuit but I love this woman. I love the honesty that comes through with her work, I love her style, she’s forthright, tough as nails and, in the world of fashion, she’s as daring as they come!

So I tried to find out more about this melodic duet between my favourite chain store and the IT woman of style but I couldn’t find out much about this magical love affair. Oh well...such is information: unattainable when you need it most.

I’ll still keep my eyes and ears peeled though
