Part Hitchcock heroine, part 1940s femme fatale… Karlie Kloss in the fall 2012 issue of Acne Paper is a more than healthy dose of vintage inspiration for the day. The shoot is aptly titled A Head For Business and A Body For Sin. WHEW...Operation lose-half-a-person-in-kilograms officially under way!!!

Versace Atelier haute couture Autumn 2012 runway collection
If there's one brand that pays more attention to detail than anybody else, its Versace! Donatella Versace led ersace in opening the Paris haute coutre ball recently. Donatella presented the Versace Atelier at the Ritz Hotel in Paris for the first time since her brother, Gianni's death in 1997. This runway collection is nothing short of spectacular. Check out the rest of the collection after the jump....

My Top 5 Naturals
We all have our hair idols, be they natural, weaved or anything in between, here are my top 5 naturalistas in the public eye. All the women in my top 10 inspire me in my natural hair journey....who would make your top 5?
At number 5 is actress Viola Davis who became an instant hair idol as soon as a photoshoot she shot with ... made it to the web! (If you missed that, check it out here) She further pushed the envelope when she chose to forgo her man-made tresses for her springy cropped natural hair at the Oscars even! Thatha wena maaaaan *V-Mash voice*
When sisters get it right!
If I have to explain why this pic is a winner, then o dom and quite frankly, you shouldn't be reading this blog!
(Note how the lady in the centre and the one on the far right separated what could've been a disastrous snake-print suit. Love it)
A double thumbs-up from moi

Un-Photoshopped pic makes the cover #YAYERS
Hats off to Harper’s Bazaar Spain, their April 2012 cover is a stand
out and doesn’t feel in the least bit contrived, unlike most of the 'celebrity without Photoshop' covers that get marketed.
56 year old Spanish actress, Ángela Molina is the au-naturelle cover star of the April 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Spain. The cover shows Molina modeling a black leather trench (and, as far as I can tell, nothing else). Her hair is refreshingly undone - grey streaks and all - and her makeup muted enough that her beauty and bone structure serve as the focus. I'm not exaggerating when I say I found this cover arresting...somewhat hynotic...refreshing. If only we could see something similar this side of Africa considering we never fail to remind the rest of the world of how many "natural beauties" we claim are our own. If a woman of an age as ripe as Angela's can strike a front-cover pose for a publication as reputable as Harper's, why can't our younger, less life-experienced "celebrities" follow suite?
I have nothing (much) against our local beauty Minnie Dlamini, but more gripe with local magazines who sell images of perfection to gullible and exceptionally sensitive tweens who forget how much make-up, computer software and expensive weaves are needed to attain much of what we're told is "beauty"! Granted, a personal brand is being pushed, money needs to be made, Louboutins need to be bought (and...and...and...) trust me, I get all of that! But local publications (and personal celebrity brands) need to conscientise theselves to the reach AND effect these heavily touched-up images have on their (esp young) fanbase!
There's really nothing to lose (except for the cakes of make-up and Photoshop ofcourse)

The Knowles' (and a Carter)
While Blue Ivy gets busy growing up she can rest assured Aunty Solange is keeping her fashion seat very warm! She's rightfully become a stylista to be reckoned with! I stumbled on these pics of her at a Tiffany's event held in NYC recently and literally drooled at the effortless colour blocking going on here....
On my midnight playlist...
My erratic sleeping pattern has me up and typing away at 02:16am, munching on the best crisps my tastebuds have ever been blessed by (Woolies Slow roast chicken and herb) and listening to the best playlist larrrk EVER! I just had to post this video though, Prince's Diamonds and Pearls, I've looped the bloody thing on my PC as well as my MP3 player and my cellphone! My love for it is simply THAT deep

Alexa Chung for Superga SS2012
I'll be brave and offer this piece of useless information: I am a slave to this Italian brand's ad campaigns! Time and again they manage to woo my non-sneaker wearing self to Superga retailers with my plastic money in tow. It is also at this point my saner mind fails to kick in...rendering the war won: Superga 1- 0 Me
I'm ashamed to say they have me by my proverbial nuts once again...

Before all you Beliebers start doing cartwheels...this is a once-off post which features celeb kids! I usually find these (over-privileged) kids extremely annoying seeing as they usually act as the catalyst of a conversation my mom adores more than she does me: "why can't you be like them?"
But, even I, can mute my hatred for two minutes while I post this (I'm likely to regret this hasty decision as soon as i click POST)!
There is something I found mildly addictive about these photos...this Jaden kid is fast becoming the object of my (often obsessive) affection! Those pixie ears simply WORK! And then there's Miss Willlow "Fireball" who, in the first pic, is acting as my hairspiration!
I'll say this once and once only: these kids have something i want BAAAAD...the X-factor!!!
Yeah, I said it, now a build a bridge!

Viola Davis...at her best!
Off late I've made it my personal mission to abolish inconsiderate grassroots whispers about so-called "ugly people" This is not to say I didn't have to put myself in check first before tackling this (mammoth) task!
First on my "Let's stop calling them Ugly" list is actress extraordinaire Viola Davis who you should know from productions like Tyler Perry's "Madea Goes to Jail" and the on-screen adaptation of New York's bestseller "Eat, Pray, Love".
I've been saying this about (and to) African women for the longest time: we look better with our OWN damned hair texture! The evidence lies below...
(learn more about Vi here)
Once again dear beautiful black woman, take my advice: if Miss Davis can look like a supermodel sans a weave, what the frikaddel makes you can't o_0
My wish now: to see her stun those damn paparazzos on the red carpet with this neat do!

The return of the Prodigal Blogger
Over my (very) extended AWOL stint, I realised something incredibly morbid about myself: I'm RUNNER! I run from absolutely everything in every facet of my non-scintillating life! But then, as i was mellowing over my pathetic-ness (add that word to your dictionary, won't you? You'll see it a lot henceforth) something else slapped me silly: I've run from everything except this blog...my baby :-)
So I'm back to breast-feed my growing lumpen with lots of fashion, entertainment and a whole lot more useless info!
Happy 2012
