I owe the birth of this blog to two things: my love for fashion and the written word (that counts as one and what I choose to call CrazyBlackVirgin's brother blog, Visfinger which remains one of my favourite ways to catch on what's what in the world of entertainment, random crap and most recently FASHION (#i_die).
This video, sent to me by one half of visfinger's contributors came to me at a time when I felt like I needed to host an intervention for my own ass: I was at my wits end trying to forget about the I-dos that never were and also the uselessness of "HIS" clothes! And then.....voila :-) Like Houdini, this video landed on my wall! Thank you Mr Contributor, I know with as much conviction that I will one day grow pubes, that this video will save many women a lifetime of heartache from unreciprocated feelings of intense love!
At last, a good reason to break up with your cheap-skate loser

Brad Pitt: "I'm quitting acting in 3 years"
Ever since my dear neighbour relinquished her hooker tendencies (after a very long 17 years, so claim the adults) I've been convinced that no matter how much someone may love what they do nobody wants to do the same thing until their death. And my neighbour loooved her "job"! So it came as no surprise when news broke of Brad Pitt's plans to assume a more behind the scenes role beyond the bitter-sweet age of the big 50!
SA Style Awards
There are so many awards during this period that I feel like a hamster in one of those spinning wheel thingies simply by attempting to stay on top of my game. Last night saw "stylish" A-listers flock to Hyde Park (most in the hope to walk away with something other than a bruised ego) I put stylish in inverted commas because half the attendees are usually anything BUT stylish! Among the spotted were makeup artist @NthatoMashishi, @tamaradey, @lindiwesuttle and @BridgetMasinga. List of winners below...

Mzansi Housewives of SOWETO (no, this se-ri-yusi)
I swear I almost let one rip (the way I laughed) when I heard this one ☺ South African production houses have clearly long aspired to bask in the same hype generated as a by-product of "reality" shows. Not a nation to be outdone, we too will soon be mildly mutilated by our very own Mzansi Housewives who hail from the largest township in the country: SOWETO! A press release from Media Update reads:
"...the series will zoom in the lives of five Soweto women with contrasting lives and personalities, yet the best of friends.
the 12-episode series will essentially be about challenging perpetual stereotypes through profiling how these women lead their lives socially and personally. It will highlight the pleasures and pressures they go through as black women post-democracy; from how they have fun, to how they relate to each another, family issues, cultural issues, careers, relationships etc. The series will also have elements of drama inevitable in townships; be it humorous gossip or rivalry created by jealousy. It will certainly take women in a space they are most familiar with - giving them space to relax, escape, laugh and enjoy their true self. South Africans can look forward to seeing real life characters they love and identify with."

I needed some HAIRSPIRATION
I'm literally counting the days before I yank these braids off my head (I'm down to 11) so I thought now would probably be the time to think about the dreaded "what's next". I visited Le Coil and dove straight into a sea of inspiration. My hair may not be this long (YET) but I'm definately itching to tey a style or two from these pics.
The rest (the dreaded styles) I posted for you. I've got nothing to do with dreaded hair.

Very Versace
In the very likely event that you are wondering whether I'm really going to pretend like this Julius thing never happened, the answer is YES! I'm ignoring the drama, I'm moving on to happy things now...off to Italia ☺
Feather Awards 2011 #delayed_post
For the past month or so the buzz word in the entertainment industry cicle was "Feather Awards" [Mshoza was also on everyone's lips but this isn't about her so...] and on Tuesday South Africa's A (B and C) listers finally found an excuse to dress up in their Christmas garb and get their weaves curled. And off they went to The Venue in Melrose Arch, to air kiss and scoff down the free food and drinks.
The Feathers are a celebration of the South African entertainment industry by the gay community so naturally the "hosts" were out in full force. A plethora of other familiar faces in the industry also showed face; the likes of Dineo Ranaka, Fistaz Mixwell, Mpho Maboi who looked radiant in black to Edith Venter in all her glory and glam.

I'm BACK ☺
Given the bleak state of employment opportunities in this country I am grateful to be a working class citizen of this country. The crappy part though is holding down 2 jobs, school AND keeping a blog nurtured; that shit is just tiring. <-- THAT is why I've been away for almost two months. I've been so busy trying to keep up with all my commitments that I had to sacrifice my hobby which unfortunately was updating this blog.
Things haven't quite eased up though, year ends are an absolute nightmare for someone in my profession. So pair all my other obligations to an impromptu move to another city and you can imagine the wreck that I am. But I couldn't stay away much longer, this blog has been more of a safe place for me than i care to admit. So this is me NOT admitting it. I also missed YOU, the reader of this blog, the positive feedback I'd stumble upon every so often in my inbox has been amazing and I missed my ego being stroked!
So here I am once again, asking that you lend me your eyes, time and company funds to indulge yourself in all things fashion, entertainment, beauty, absurdity and randomness!
I still ♥ you
CrazyBlackVirgin ☺
