Terry Pheto in The Bold & The Beautiful

During thinner times

Popular South African actress and L'Oreal ambassador, Terry Pheto has landed the soapie role of a lifetime in the USA. The Tsotsi actress is set to join the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful from 13 June to play a recurring role as a heart surgeon in the popular daytime drama.
Pheto has already moved to Los Angeles, where she's busy preparing for her role – watching as the storyline unfolds to incorporate her character.  The name of her character is unknown at this stage.
The writers of the Emmy Award- nominated The Bold and the Beautiful series, which has been around since 1987, aren’t revealing too much about her role at this stage, however, they have confirmed that Pheto will be playing a world renowned, South African heart surgeon in the soapie.
Producers for The Bold and the Beautiful are rumoured to have wanted to bring in a storyline with a South African character “for a while now”, and that's how they developed a role – for which Pheto auditioned for. The soapie's need to have a SA character in the show was based on the fact that they wanted to engage their South African fan base in a direct manner, and when the opportunity came along to cast a South African actress of Pheto's scope, they jumped at the opportunity to do so.
This role is one that Pheto has not played before – it’s the perfect combination of intelligence and beauty that made Terry Pheto perfect for this role.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime and I look forward to sharing the screen with my soapie heroes Katherine Kelly Lang and Susan Flannery, while sinking my thespian teeth into a challenging role,” Pheto said.
Terry Pheto’s scenes will air in South Africa in 2012.

Now the South African audience actually has a reason to watch that twaak we call a soapie. As long as she doesn't end up with Ridge, I'm hundreds!
