The makings of an "IT" girl

Not enough of these beauts to go around

It's a sad reality I wake up to every morning in this country. In SA, all you need to be deemed an "it" girl is a television cameo! Case in point: Minenhle Dlamini. I'll never be in support of the lack of criteria needed to be fulfilled to be crowned SA's next best thing and I blame it on the South African public who have made it a point to abuse the term "celebrity" and apply it to every video vixen in town. Have your name mentioned in any one of the many Sunday publications and YEAY, you've made it and are immediately excused for acting life self-proclaimed diva Diana Ross! Bitch please- you know you  ain't god for shiyit! Here's MY criteria to be the legIT girl this country so desperately needs.
  • A name
Now, a rose may be a rose by any another name, but if your aim is to the industry's IT girls, you best be called something that has a ring of peasentry froma former commnist country, have a famous sibling or parents with possible links to Hugh Hefner!

  • A personality
It's almost impossible to get anywhere without a bit of crazy in your character, but if you haven't got even THAT to go by, I recommend Terry Pheto as a mentor: she's about as interesting as a tree and she's fast-laned herself all the way to Hollywood.

  • A body for daaays!
By this I'm not alluding to crack-head thin Ms "I twitch like a grasshopper" Bonang Matheba. She doesn't count. I promote health, not purgetory!

  • Talent
Gold-digging doesn't count in this category, neither does craddle-snatching! I hope Khanyi and Sophie read this blog.  'Nuf said.

  • Style
Soho-chic, boho, urban sophisticated, Chanel-classic...whatever tickles your fancy. But find a style that suites you and stick to it!

Unfortunately, it seems SA is far from having this role occupied, so until I decide to change my name to something a bit more eccentric, stop dancing like a possessed giraffe and stick to one fashion era, Mzansi will just have to hang ten!
